Help Us Fill The Pink Lady Fire Truck with Knitted Knockers!!!

Picture
In October 2016, Charlotte Yarn partnered with the Levine Cancer Institute here in Charlotte to help support Breast Cancer Awareness month,  Charlotte Yarn and the Levine Cancer Institute brought awareness to the "Knitted Knockers" movement and provided  Levine Cancer Institute with Knitted Knockers.

Throughout 2017, with the help of so many, we have been providing Levine Cancer Institute with Knitted Knockers and we want to provide even more.   We will continue with this endeavor as long as there is a need.

This year we will be working with Levine Cancer Institute, Cheers to Ewe!, and the Pink Lady Fire Truck to raise awareness and provide even more Knockers.  Our goal is to fill up the Pink Lady Fire Truck with Knockers that will be delivered to Levine Cancer Institute!    In order to do this, we need your help. Below are the approximate times for each of the Pink Lady's stops that day!

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 1, 2017
11:00 - Pink Lady to Pick Up Knitted Knockers at Cheers To Ewe!
12:00 - Pink Lady to Pick Up Knitted Knockers at Charlotte Yarn
12:45 - Pink Lady to Drop Off Knitted Knockers at Levine Cancer Institute

Why is Charlotte Yarn involved?
Many of our customers have had personal experience with the devastating effects of breast cancer.  We want to show our support for these women and many others who have had their lives greatly impacted by this disease.  We want to help fill the ever increasing need for Knockers.

What are Knitted and Crocheted Knockers?
Knockers are soft, light weight breast prosthetics that are very comfortable for women who have undergone mastectomies, lumpectomies, radiation, and/or reconstruction,

Why do we need your help?
Knockers  are desperately needed at the Levine Cancer Institute.  We are asking for your help in knitting or crocheting one or as many as you want and  then donating them to the Levine Cancer Institute.

Please help us spread the word about our cause by telling your knitting and crochet friends.

How do I get started?
Please go to the www.knittedknockers.org website to read about yarn requirements and to print out the pattern for the knit or crochet knockers.  When you are finished with a knocker, you do not have to stuff them with PolyFiberFil  if you do not want to. Charlotte Yarn will get them stuffed.

You can drop off your completed knockers to Charlotte Yarn or Cheers To Ewe!.

When dropping off completed knockers, please note the size of the knocker (A,B,C or D).

I want to help, but need assistance.  What can I do?

Charlotte Yarn will be offering FREE classes on Saturday, August 12th and 19th from 2pm-4pm and 20% OFF supplies.  In these classes you will learn how to knit the  Knockers, from the back to the front, using the Magic Loop technique.  The Magic Loop eliminates the need for Double Pointed Needles. Other methods for knitting the knockers will be covered, including knitting them on straight needles.   FREE patterns will be provided.

To register for a class or for more information, please go to our "Classes/Events" page.

I don't knit or crochet, but want to help.  What can I do?
For those who would like to help, but do not knit or crochet, you can donate PolyFiberFil which is used to stuff the knitted knockers.

You can also provide yarn for others to knit or crochet the knockers.

We are not alone in this effort.  This movement is in place around our nation and around the world.  Read the articles below to see how fellow knitters and crocheters are supporting this cause.
